Job summary

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
  • 3-5 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience
  • System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus
  • Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, and MDM platforms to manage macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and Windows devices or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
  • Installs and upgrades computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
  • Troubleshoots hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Provides documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
  • Performs or delegates regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance
  • Possesses knowledge of FERPA, COPPA, CIPA and other various regulations surrounding staff and student data privacy
  • Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Who We Are:

The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a Systems Software Administrator for the 2026-2027 school year. We are a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students, in a vibrant learning community of 17 state of the art buildings in west-central Ohio. As anSystems Software Administrator, you are required to:

What We Offer:
  • Salary details are available within the SASO/SAST Agreement

As a contracted employee, this position is assigned to work 234 days per year and 8 hours per day.

Starting salaryis in accordance with the negotiated agreement, increases withexperience and education.

The SASO/SAST agreement and the Board of Education are currently working on a new professional agreement. While that is in the works, please refer to the current agreement as to pay and benefits that are in place for the 2025-26school year.
