Job summary

Ashtabula Area City School District is seeking a Technology Systems Manager to oversee and administer the district's technology infrastructure, network systems and services. You will assess performance, recommend hardware and software upgrades and ensure reliable operation of all systems.

The role requires a Bachelor's in CS or related field (Master's preferred), strong knowledge of Active Directory, Google Workspace, DNS/DHCP, and office tools.

Qualifications

Location: Ashtabula Area City Schools - Board of Education

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Under the general supervision of the Technology Coordinator to oversee and administer the functions and operations of the school district's technology infrastructure, network systems and technology services, assessing the effectiveness of the school district's technology infrastructure and security, providing recommendations regarding potential hardware and software upgrades, and maintaining the proper functioning of all network and hardware systems.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in related field, Master's Degree in related field preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of and ability to setup and use, MS Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and Cloud Print Services .
  • In-depth understanding of a domain-based enterprise environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of and ability to setup and use Google G Suite and associated management tools and services as well as other cloud services.
  • In-depth knowledge of and ability to use MS Office Standard (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), including most current and previous versions.
  • Knowledge of PC hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of sound practices in network troubleshooting.
  • Ability to problem-solve and prioritize a variety of support questions and user needs.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form, and to work with minimum supervision.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversees and manages the school district's Technology systems and technology.
  • Assesses malfunctions of hardware and/or software applications for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer and network operations, filtering devices, security and proper use.
  • Manages the development of the school district local area networks for the purpose of ensuring the efficient growth and development of productivity.
  • Serves as a consultant to District staff and assists in the use of technology to support instruction and integrate with the District's curriculum.
  • Provides leadership and technical support for the purpose of designing, developing and maintaining an efficient, unified and fully integrated technology system.
  • Engages in troubleshooting and problem solving to diagnose problems with the school district's computer network systems, hardware, software, and takes corrective action as needed.
  • Researches computer hardware and software applications, vendors, consultants and current technology for the purpose of being knowledgeable on trends, ensuring availability and recommending applications and purchases.
  • Handles all questions from employees regarding the use of the school district's computer network systems for the purpose of resolving issues and implementing corrective measures.
  • Maintains records relating to inventory, repair and use of school district network equipment.
  • Recommends policies, procedures and/or actions for the purpose of providing direction for the school district's Technology functions and to ensure the computer network system is meeting school district needs.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments related to the position by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
  • Other duties pertaining to technology operations
WORKING CONDITIONS

This position will interact regularly with staff and vendors and must have excellent interpersonal skills. The ability to apply common sense understanding and carrying out instructions and plans is required. On a regular basis must use independent judgment to determine actions to be taken, priorities, emergencies, etc.

Minimal exposure to dirt, odors, heights, cleaning chemicals, variable temperatures and weather conditions. Requires moderate physical effort to include climbing stairs, lifting and moving up to 40 pounds (i.e. file boxes, supplies, paper) stooping, bending, standing and walking.

SALARY AND STATUS

This is a full time, non-union exempt position. The salary for this position will be based on educational attainment and experience.

Salary Schedule:

Salary based upon the Administrator Salary Scale.Salary grade and step placement will be established at the time of employment by the Superintendent and Director of Operations.

WORK SCHEDULE

260 days per year (minus approved vacation and holidays) as a non-teaching supervisor.
