Job summary

Blue Mantis is seeking an IT Operations Engineer to support enterprise‑class data centers and ensure high availability of network infrastructure. The role focuses on server, cloud, and virtualization with a strong emphasis on incident management and game‑day operations.

The successful candidate will handle Windows, Linux, and Unix environments, manage cloud workloads, and perform proactive monitoring using SolarWinds and DataDog.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• CCNA and CCNP ITIL certifications or equivalents preferred.
• Experience in complex multisite environments with on‑site operations.
• Proven ability to support Windows, Linux, and Unix servers and cloud workloads.

Responsibilities

• Server Administration across Windows, Linux, and Unix environments.
• Cloud operations in AWS, Azure, and O365 with containerization awareness.
• VMware virtualization management and troubleshooting.
• Monitoring with SolarWinds and DataDog for reliability and performance.
• Lead incident resolution and ensure SLAs are met.
• Implement secure networking practices for on‑prem and cloud.
• Maintain detailed network documentation and runbooks.

Key Responsibilities

• Server Administration: Manage and maintain Windows, Linux, and Unix environments to ensure optimal performance.
• Cloud Operations: Administer cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and O365 for enterprise workloads and containerization.
• Virtualization: Manage, configure, and troubleshoot VMware-based environments to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and availability of virtualized infrastructure.
• System Monitoring: Leverage platforms such as SolarWinds and DataDog to ensure network reliability and performance.
• Incident Management: Lead network-related incident resolution, ensuring SLAs are met and escalating issues when necessary.
• Security Best Practices: Implement and support secure networking solutions, ensuring robust protection in on-premise and cloud environments.
• Documentation: Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including topology maps and procedures for troubleshooting.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required Skills

• Strong experience Cisco Nexus/Arista/Meraki Switches, Cisco Wireless Controllers, Windows, Linux, and Unix environments using the ServiceNOW ticketing system.
• Strong experience in NOC operations with expertise in Windows, Linux, and Unix environments using the ServiceNOW ticketing system.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, O365, VMware) and virtualization/containerization technologies.
• Backup and DR Support: Experience supporting and troubleshooting backup and disaster recovery solutions such as Rubrik and Zerto, ensuring data protection and system resilience.
• Hands‑on experience with firewalls, routing protocols, and network monitoring tools like SolarWinds.
• Familiarity with automation tools and scripting
• Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to adapt to dynamic priorities.

Preferred Skills

• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automating server and cloud operations.
• Familiarity with cloud‑based networking solutions in AWS, Azure, or O365 environments.
• Knowledge of infrastructure capacity planning and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration for managing distributed applications.
• Familiarity with security best practices, SIEM platforms, and endpoint protection.
• Experience with advanced video streaming technologies and CDNs.
• Familiarity with infrastructure performance tuning and capacity planning.

Qualifications

• Provide game day support on major holidays when games are played.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• Certifications: CCNA, CCNP (or equivalent) ITIL and technical certifications in, servers and/ or cloud (preferred).
• Experience: Demonstrated expertise in a complex, multisite environment.

Base Salary Range: $120,000.00 - $165,000.00

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
