Position: System Administrator

The client is seeking an experienced System Administrator with 9 years of hands-on experience to support the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Windows-based environments and VMware virtualization, along with a solid technical education. This role requires onsite support in Baltimore, Maryland, with the opportunity for remote work in the future based on performance and project needs.

Client: Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA)

Work Location: 707 N. Calvert Street, Baltimore Maryland. 100% onsite with the possibility of a hybrid schedule in the future

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and support enterprise Windows Server environments
• Manage and support VMware virtual infrastructure, including monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
• Provide day-to-day system administration support for servers, storage, and related infrastructure
• Perform system upgrades, patches, backups, and recovery operations
• Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system, hardware, and software issues
• Support security controls, compliance requirements, and best practices for government environments
• Collaborate with network, security, and application teams to support SHA infrastructure
• Create and maintain system documentation, procedures, and operational guides
• Participate in after-hours or on-call support as required

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 9 years of experience as a System Administrator or similar role
• Strong experience with Microsoft Windows System Administration
• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi environments
• Experience supporting enterprise or government IT environments
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure
