Job summary

Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a System Administrator to support mission-critical enterprise applications across CMS portfolios. The role requires active clearance, DoD IAT I certification, and hands-on experience with Windows and UNIX/Linux systems.

You will implement hardening, automation, and cloud-ready infrastructure in a fast-paced government contracting environment. The position offers a strong compensation package, parity with federal programs, and opportunities to work

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 15+ years of related experience accepted in lieu.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell and Bash scripting.
  • Experience with system hardening and compliance with ISSOs.
  • DoD 8570 IAT I certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Support IT infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for mission-critical systems.
  • Configure, administer and maintain Windows and UNIX/Linux OS.
  • Collaborate with engineering to modernize and automate infrastructure.

We are seeking a System Administrator for one of our PRIME CONTRACTS supporting mission-criticalenterprise applications and services across the Government Corporate Management Services (CMS) portfolio. Our mission supports the Government Corporate Management Services (CMS) by providing full life cyclesupport services through the sustainment, modernization, and transformation of the enterprise corporate applications. As soon as an employee enters a customer facility, they touch one of these applications which are critical to the daily functions of thousands of users across acquisition, business, finance, HR, training, recruitment, program management, security, logistics and more.   • Work on a fast-paced team providing support for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems supporting critical enterprise applications.
  • Manage IT system infrastructure and associated processes, ensuring the availability, reliability, security, and performance of enterprise applications and services.
  • Provide day-to-day operations, monitoring, maintenance, and problem resolution for client systems, servers, storage platforms, network devices, and related infrastructure.
  • Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support, including problem identification, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution.
  • Support the escalation process and communicate system status, issues, and resolutions to agency management and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with hardware support activities, dispatch processes, and issue resolution through completion.
  • Configure, administer, and maintain Windows and UNIX/Linux operating systems, including software installation, patching, system hardening, and performance tuning.
  • Maintain the integrity and availability of infrastructure components while implementing enhancements to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering and development teams to support infrastructure modernization efforts, including evaluating, testing, and implementing technology solutions that enhance system capabilities.
  • Participate in the assessment of existing systems and architectures, providing operational and technical input for initiatives involving automation, DevOps practices, cloud technologies, and application modernization.
  • Support the planning, testing, deployment, and sustainment of infrastructure and application changes across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud-hosted environments, as applicable.
  • Assist in analyzing operational, security, compliance, and technical considerations associated with infrastructure changes and technology migrations.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and system configuration baselines.

Required Qualifications:

  • An active security clearance with polygraph.
  • A bachelor’s degree and ten (10) years of experience as a system administrator on programs of similar scope and complexity is required. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree fifteen (15) years of experience required.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell and Bash scripting languages.
  • Experience with system hardening.
  • Experience working with ISSOs for system compliance.
  • DoD 8570 compliance with Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level I is required.
  • Must be able to work core hours of 10AM-2PM Monday-Friday. Exceptions will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.

  • Experience with infrastructure automation, configuration management, or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Experience supporting DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, or automated deployment processes.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Experience performing vulnerability remediation, security patching, and STIG implementation.
  • Experience supporting Authority to Operate (ATO) processes, RMF activities, and security compliance initiatives.

The estimated salary range for this position is between $140,000-$180,000 (annualized USD). This range reflects the typical pay for the role and is one part of the company's comprehensive compensation package. Actual salaries are influenced by several factors, such as location, the individual’s education, skills, experience, and competencies, as well as contract affordability and organizational needs.
