POSITION SUMMARY:

The job of Power Plant Operator was established for the purposes of providing maintenance services and overall operations with specific responsibility for ensuring completion of assigned work order projects and continued operation of the cogeneration plant; performing a wide variety of skilled maintenance activities (e. g. HVAC systems, alarms – Direct Digital Control, Emergency Generator Systems, Computer Monitoring Systems, Steam and Hot Water Boilers, Co-Generation plant, etc.) and any other duties as directed;

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

High School graduate or recognized equivalent plus formal trade/vocational school training or five (5) years related experience. Completion of apprenticeship program preferred.

Participates in orientation and continuing education in order to maintain the knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and service.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to use standard hand tools, machinery and equipment plus precision measuring tools. Basic to advanced knowledge of Direct Digital Control systems and PLC based Plant Control Systems, Steam Boilers and/or Cogeneration systems and operations. Ability to read and interpret blue prints and to prepare material takeoffs. Basic to advanced code and regulatory knowledge. See Specific Performance Criteria section for additional information.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:

Industrial setting: Clinical setting occasionally. Exposure Class I. Routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions. Intermittent to regular exposure to unpleasant physical conditions, including but not limited to: high temperatures and general outdoor seasonal weather conditions. Occasional to regular exposure to situations that could cause moderate to serious injury or illness, including but not limited to use of hand tools, power tools, operation of machinery and equipment, materials and equipment cleaning utilizing various cleaning solutions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Heavy work: Continual and repetitive motions, including but not limited to heavy lifting (up to 80 lbs.), bending, stooping, twisting, pushing, pulling, crawling, climbing, prolonged walking and standing.

Pay Range: $23.40 - $31.36

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location
