Are you passionate about collaborating with outstanding scientists and engineers to develop your own skills while contributing to critical challenges?

About the Role

We are seeking an organic chemist to help develop solutions to the complex problems we take on through chemical synthesis and characterization. You will apply your strong background in chemistry to develop solutions for government challenging problems. Your research will span fields from synthesis of stimuli-responsive polymers to inorganic coatings for thermal management, adhesives, coatings, ink technologies, electrochemistry and catalysis. You will be encouraged to generate your own research ideas and publish your findings, working in a multidisciplinary team focused on advanced prototypes and solving challenging problems.

Responsibilities
  • Perform experiments at the direction of a project manager and assist with the development of new materials via chemical synthesis, characterization, and performance testing in the laboratory and in the field.
  • Analyze data in detail and explain characterization results.
  • Document and present technical work internally and externally.
  • Work on projects both independently and as part of a team.
  • Publish research and present at conferences.
Qualifications
  • Possess a B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Have 2+ years of non-academic research experience.
  • Have demonstrable research experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Have a background in molecular synthesis, spectroscopy, and experimental design.
  • Be familiar with NMR spectroscopy, gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, and/or mass spectrometry.
  • Have experience working as part of a collaborative team.
  • Be comfortable communicating research findings in various settings.
