Job summary

Molg is seeking a Synthesis / Computational Design Engineer to join our Sterling, VA team. You will design geometric reasoning algorithms, translate 3D electronics representations into robot-executable sequences, and build pipelines for 3D geometry processing and simulation.

You’ll collaborate across robotics, software, mechanical, and electrical engineers to deliver scalable, production-grade solutions. You will prototype, validate, and scale geometric pipelines, contribute to internal data

Qualifications

• 5+ years in computational geometry or CAD/CAM software development.
• Proficiency in Python and/or C++, with performance-sensitive code experience.
• Deep familiarity with meshes, point clouds, solids, voxel grids, or implicit surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement algorithms for geometric reasoning and computational synthesis.
• Build the automation backbone for process planning from 3D electronics representations.
• Develop pipelines for 3D geometry processing and physics-informed simulation.
• Collaborate with robotics and controls to ensure feasible, robust plans.
• Contribute to data models for products, components, and processes across lifecycle.
• Prototype and evaluate new geometric search and design-space exploration methods.
• Build production-grade software integrated into Molg’s platform.
• Participate in design reviews with cross-functional teams.
• Stay current with advances in computational design and geometry processing.
