Job summary

Molg is seeking a Senior Robotics Engineer to join our in‑person team at the Sterling, VA HQ. You will develop core robotics software spanning perception, planning, and control, and work closely with mechanical and electrical engineers to advance microfactory capabilities.

You will contribute to architecture decisions, validate software on real hardware, and mentor junior engineers in a fast‑paced startup environment focused on circular electronics manufacturing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience developing automated solutions using 6 DOF robots.
• 5+ years of experience in Python3 or C++
• Proficiency with ROS, ROS2, or another robot‑oriented software framework.
• Proficiency with unix/linux systems, shell software (sh, bash, zsh), git, containerization, CI/CD, automation, OOP
• Excellent understanding of core robotics principles, including homogeneous transformations, forward and inverse kinematics, closed‑loop control, path and motion planning, localization.
• Demonstrable experience using physical robot systems from leading manufacturers (ABB, FANUC, KUKA).
• Experience taking robotics software from PoC to production with observability and robust error handling.
• Experience integrating software with real robotic hardware and validating on physical robots.

Responsibilities

• Delivering high‑quality, testable code for built/integrated robotic hardware (i.e. microfactories).
• Building core CAD to robotic motion and grasp planning workflow software.
• Developing and expanding advanced simulation and motion planning capabilities.
• Collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers on tooling, fixturing, vision systems, and control systems.
