Summary

Program Aide who will play an active role in observing and monitoring activities of Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) participants. The SYEP Activity Specialist will process payroll and handle multiple assignments. The Program Aide will be expected to prioritize assignments and be able to take initiative. The candidate must have a proven track record in customer service. Travel within the boroughs of the Queens and Brooklyn to conduct site visits. Prepare weekly assessment reports in detail and concise manner that reflect field observations. Collect timesheets on a weekly basis and ensure completion with accuracy. Cooperate and maintain a working relationship with the assigned worksite supervisors. Communicate with the Program Director regarding any conflicts with worksite assignments. Facilitate weekly educational workshops for 20-40 program participants (ages 14-24) with a provided curriculum. Maintain participant files, timesheets and evaluations. Attend all related meetings, trainings and supervisions as required. Assist with review of enrollment documents and correspondence to applicants. To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Hours : Monday & Tuesday from 7:30am to 2:30pm

Essential Functions :

A program aide provides clerical support for School years, summer and or afterschool programs. Their duties include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with site leadership in the planning, development and execution of quality, project-based youth development activities.
  • Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with participants, families & school faculty
  • Coordinate events & functions in specialty area such as: showcases, exhibits, productions, culminating events, etc.
  • Engage participants in specialty area activities. Provide support through encouragement and delivering resources.
  • Prepare related paperwork, materials and implementation supplies. Timely submit all program and certification related documents.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • College Student or H igh School Graduate 18 yrs. or older .
  • 2 year s ’ experience working with children and/or youth in your specialization .
  • Exemplary supervisory skills at elementary level (middle school or high school aged youth) and a ptitude for motivating people.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office .
  • Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently .
  • Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task .

Qualifications Preferred :

  • Bilingual in one or more of the following: Spanish, Creole , Bengali and others based on client needs.
