The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System is seeking a Facilities Coordinator II to oversee daily operations of a large campus facility, ensuring a safe, clean, and fully functional environment by supervising custodial and maintenance tasks.

Reporting to the Portfolio Manager, the role emphasizes managing staff, scheduling work, coordinating repairs, and maintaining equipment while supporting school operations and safety for students and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED from a GaDoe approved and accredited institution.
• Associates degree or technical credential in business, operations, maintenance trades, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the cleanliness and safety of the school by monitoring and performing all custodial activities.
• Keeps the assigned work area clean by dusting, mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, buffing scrubbing and waxing floors, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning carpets, collecting and disposing of trash and debris from building and grounds, and other related activities.
• Schedule the work of other custodial staff; assists in selection of staff and performance evaluations.
• Uses appropriate equipment to clean carpets and strip, scrub, buff and wax floors; uses landscaping & lawn care equipment to maintain the school grounds.
• Moves furniture, equipment, & materials and performs all cleaning activities necessary to keep the building clean and safe.
• Mows grass and trims hedges.
• Operates and performs minor service on the heating and cooling system.
• Assist in securing school building by locking doors and windows and turning on the security alarm; open the school building.
• Checks fire extinguishers and sends out for service when necessary.
• Performs minor repairs and basic building maintenance.
• Orders cleaning supplies.
• Exterior painting and small paint projects.
• Change ceiling tiles and light bulbs (not LED fixtures).
• Reports necessary repairs and safety concerns to Portfolio Manager/Supervisor.
• Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization and the safety of students and staff.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a facility ore than 90,000 square feet. This role ensures that the physical environment remains safe, clean, and fully functional by managing maintenance, repairs, and operational activities.

SALARY SCHEDULE: 106

WORK DAYS: 250

REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or GED from a GaDoe approved and accredited institution

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or GED from a GaDoe approved and accredited institution
• Previous experience in a custodial or maintenance position, in a lead or supervisory role.

Preferred:

• Associates degree or technical credential in business, operations, maintenance trades, or related field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of the working methods and procedures used in cleaning and basic maintenance of buildings
• Knowledge of the qualities and uses of custodial supplies and equipment
• Knowledge of care and cleaning of various types of heating and ventilation equipment to include HVAC filter changes.
• Knowledge of safety rules and regulations applicable to schools and related buildings
• Ability to plan and organize the work of self and others involved in the custodial care of buildings
• Ability to assign, train, and coordinate the work of the custodial crew
• Ability to give and follow verbal and written instructions and directions and use a computer

Incumbents will be considered 'at will' and appropriate pay will be determined based on the assigned pay grade and allowable experience.

EXCEPTIONAL PHYSICAL OR SENSORY DEMANDS: Occasional heavy lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds.
