Job summary

School in the Square Dos Amigos Elementary in Washington Heights seeks a part-time After School Teacher to support bilingual immersion, assist in classes, and supervise students for the 2026-2027 school year.

Reporting to the After School Manager, you will help with arrival/dismissal, supervise transitions, manage supplies, and assist with snack setup and cleanup while fostering a safe and inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Availability for after-school hours as listed in the posting.
• Experience working with children in school, camp, or after-school settings.
• Comfort with bilingual immersion environments and SEL activities.

Responsibilities

• Work Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri 3:15 PM–5:45 PM and Wed 1:00 PM–5:45 PM.
• Assist with arrival and dismissal of students.
• Supervise transitions to daily activities and manage supplies.
• Help with attendance, snack distribution, and aftercare supervision.
• Collaborate with after-school manager/coordinator daily.
• Model teamwork and engage students in a safe, respectful environment.

Our Elementary School Part-Time After School Teacher

Our Elementary School, admiringly named “Dos Amigos”, at School in the Square is a Dual Language PreK-5th grade program dedicated to providing each student with the tools and support to become lifelong learners. Dos Amigos provides a creative, bilingual immersion program alongside a focus on SEL.

We are looking for dedicated, mission-aligned part-time after school assistant teachers who have a passion for bilingual immersion. Reporting to our After School Manager and in collaboration with a diverse and committed Elementary School Staff, you will assist in a range of classes and activities while supporting the overall well‑being of students attending the After School program. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Availability to work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 3:15 PM - 5:45 PM andWednesday: 1:00 PM - 5:45 PM
• Provide help with arrival and dismissal of students
• Supervise the transition of all students to their daily activities
• Help with Attendance and constant supervision of all grade level students
• Organization, dispersing and collection of supplies
• Helping with the distribution and cleaning up of snack and daily used spaces
• Supervision of students during after care programs
• Working alongside and reporting to both the after school manager and coordinator daily
• Supervising students transitions outdoors to local parks
• Supervising appropriate usage of technology including but not limited to conduct, treatment of supplies and locking up of equipment
• Ability to work with other adults in a lead or assistant teacher role
• Coverage of classes when absences occur
