Minimum Qualifications

A valid Georgia Educator Certificate in the assigned teaching field as required by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.

Goals

Provide instruction; encourage and assess student achievement and progress; and manage the learning environment effectively.

Responsibilities
  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the curriculum, subject content, pedagogical knowledge, and the needs of students by providing relevant learning experiences.
  2. Exhibit best practices based on current research and facilitate students’ use of higher-level thinking skills in instruction.
  3. Plan using State and local curricula and standards, effective strategies, resources, and data to address the differentiated needs of all students.
  4. Analyze and use student learning data to inform planning.
  5. Promote student learning by using research-based instructional strategies relevant to the content area to engage students in active learning and promote key skills.
  6. Use appropriate instructional technology and a variety of research-based strategies and resources to enhance student learning.
  7. Challenge and support each student’s learning by providing appropriate content and developing skills to address individual differences.
  8. Use a variety of assessment strategies and instruments to inform instructional modifications for each student.
  9. Gather, analyze, and use relevant data to measure student progress, inform instruction, and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians.
  10. Create a safe, supportive, and orderly learning environment that respects diversity.
  11. Establish clear classroom expectations and enforce them consistently.
  12. Implement safety measures and emergency plans to ensure a secure learning environment.
  13. Create a student-centered environment where teaching and learning occur at high levels and students are self-directed learners.
  14. Participate in professional growth and contribute to the profession.
  15. Maintain accurate and timely reports.
  16. Perform duties in accordance with laws, ethics, and policies.
  17. Maintain valid and appropriate credentials.
  18. Follow work schedules and attendance requirements.
  19. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to enhance learning.
  20. Collaborate with staff to ensure student progress.
  21. Engage in ongoing communication regarding instructional goals and student progress.
  22. Perform other duties as assigned.
