Minimum Qualifications
A valid Georgia Educator Certificate in the assigned teaching field as required by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
Goals
Provide instruction; encourage and assess student achievement and progress; and manage the learning environment effectively.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate an understanding of the curriculum, subject content, pedagogical knowledge, and the needs of students by providing relevant learning experiences.
- Exhibit best practices based on current research and facilitate students’ use of higher-level thinking skills in instruction.
- Plan using State and local curricula and standards, effective strategies, resources, and data to address the differentiated needs of all students.
- Analyze and use student learning data to inform planning.
- Promote student learning by using research-based instructional strategies relevant to the content area to engage students in active learning and promote key skills.
- Use appropriate instructional technology and a variety of research-based strategies and resources to enhance student learning.
- Challenge and support each student’s learning by providing appropriate content and developing skills to address individual differences.
- Use a variety of assessment strategies and instruments to inform instructional modifications for each student.
- Gather, analyze, and use relevant data to measure student progress, inform instruction, and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians.
- Create a safe, supportive, and orderly learning environment that respects diversity.
- Establish clear classroom expectations and enforce them consistently.
- Implement safety measures and emergency plans to ensure a secure learning environment.
- Create a student-centered environment where teaching and learning occur at high levels and students are self-directed learners.
- Participate in professional growth and contribute to the profession.
- Maintain accurate and timely reports.
- Perform duties in accordance with laws, ethics, and policies.
- Maintain valid and appropriate credentials.
- Follow work schedules and attendance requirements.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to enhance learning.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure student progress.
- Engage in ongoing communication regarding instructional goals and student progress.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
