Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for developing and implementing a multifaceted set of programs and instructional activities to build the capacity of the school and teachers to meet the learning needs and achievement of all students. This position must also remain knowledgeable about current and past research and research best practices in the field of education.

REPORTS TO: Principal

SALARY SCHEDULE: Teacher

WORK DAYS: 200

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Educational Level: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Preferred: Advanced degree(s).
  • Experience, Skill, and Certification: Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in the assigned teaching field. Certification in Social Science/History 6-12.
  • Three or more years of successful teaching experience.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and use student achievement data to develop and enhance the curriculum.
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication, interpersonal relations, team leadership, problem solving, organization, critical thinking, and project management.
  • Ability to design and deliver high-quality training for teachers and school staff, individually or collaboratively.
  • In-depth knowledge of Georgia Standards of Excellence and frameworks for high school.
  • Skills in implementing standards-based instruction.
  • Experience with research-based instructional practices that lead to increased student achievement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Collaborate with teachers, instructional staff, administrators, community members, and other service providers to analyze formative assessment data and utilize educational resources to improve student achievement.
  • Provide and facilitate ongoing professional development on instructional practices, including in-class coaching, peer observation, modeling, analyzing student work, and developing data-driven lesson plans and goals.
  • Offer feedback to teachers, administrators, and district officials regarding the academic program.
  • Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of tools and strategies gained through professional development, district initiatives, and technology use in classrooms.
  • Assist teachers in using the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards and frameworks to organize curriculum, ensure the use of rigorous performance tasks, and create assessments.
  • Select, order, and organize instructional materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

Terms of Employment

Incumbents will receive an annual contract with a work calendar of 200 days. Salary will be based on certification level and experience. The position may require work during the summer for additional pay and overnight travel for professional development.

This position is funded through Title I programs and is contingent on the availability of funds.

Physical and Sensory Demands

This position is categorized under OFFICE environment. Employees will typically have control over their physical activity levels, with occasional lifting, pulling, bending, or stretching. Frequent use of computers, phones, and standard office equipment is expected, with minimal exceptional physical or sensory demands. Modeling teaching concepts may require additional physical or sensory effort as noted in classroom settings.
