We’re building a first-of-its kind, IB-for-all academy in The Bronx that provides students with pathways for upward mobility and prepares them for the responsibilities of republican self-governance, guided by the four cardinal virtues of courage, justice, temperance, and wisdom.

Responsibilities

1. Craft and execute lessons that give students the knowledge most worth having and build transferable skills and conceptual understandings.
2. Implement our academy-wide pastoral systems with fidelity.
3. Implement the Data Inquiry Cycle and embody the ACE Habits of Mind.
4. Build caring relationships of respect and rapport with students and staff.
5. Ensure all assessments support ongoing learning and provide timely, relevant, and appropriate feedback to students.
6. Contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the academic team and Vertex staff.
7. Enthusiastically participate and contribute thoughtfully in professional development.
8. Participate in community-based projects and school field trips.
9. Proactively communicate with families about student learning.
10. Supervise students’ individual Personal Projects, Extended Essays, and service requirements.
11. Lead an advisory group of students.

This role is a full-time, in-person opportunity.

Physical Requirements

This role may require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted, including assisting coworkers when needed. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, and looking at a computer screen for long periods at a time.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $67,000-$108,000, offer will be commensurate with the candidate’s years of experience and credentials.

As an employee, you are eligible for a benefits package, inclusive of paid time off, paid holidays, and a retirement plan.
