Position Overview:

The 5th-7th Grade Science Teacher will spark curiosity and exploration in students through hands-on, inquiry-based science lessons. This role focuses on building foundational knowledge in life, physical, and earth sciences.

Responsibilities:
  1. Plan and deliver science lessons aligned with state standards and the school’s curriculum.
  2. Facilitate lab experiments and projects to encourage inquiry and critical thinking.
  3. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  4. Use assessments to evaluate student understanding and guide instruction.
  5. Incorporate technology and interdisciplinary approaches into science instruction.
  6. Serve as a homeroom teacher, providing social-emotional support and building a sense of community among students.
  7. Build relationships with students to create an engaging classroom environment.
  8. Participate in professional learning communities.
  9. Write lesson plans and enter grades weekly.
  10. Participate in evening events, student conferences, concerts, and other family events.
  11. Participate in professional development and collaborate with the STEM team.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in education, science, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  2. State teaching certification in science (or ability to obtain certification).
  3. Experience teaching middle school students, particularly in grades 5-7.
  4. Strong knowledge of NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) and best practices in science instruction.
  5. Passion for inspiring students to explore the natural world.
