Job summary

Gestalt Community Schools in Kentucky (Northern region) seeks a Dean to collaborate with the principal on implementing the instructional program, monitoring academic and enrichment activities, and guiding teachers toward improved practice. You will model coaching strategies, plan PLCs, and provide feedback grounded in data and standards adherence.

The role requires a Tennessee-equivalent teaching/admin license, 4+ years of classroom experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Tennessee Teaching and/ or Admin License ( Required)
• 4+ Years of teaching experience at Level 4-5 with demonstrated competency of gap closure
• Ability to manage several projects and meet deadlines
• Experience presenting and working with adult teachers
• Knowledge of adult learning theory
• Ability and desire to motivate adult learners to improve professional practices
• Initiative to develop systems and structures to improve teacher practices within your school
• Strong content knowledge and teaching pedagogy
• Working knowledge, understanding, and belief in the GLOE & Curriculum Frameworks, Common Core
• State Standards and ACT College Readiness Standards
• Effective written and oral communication skills

Job description

Gestalt Community Schools is a system of K--12 college--preparatory charter schools in targeted Tennessee communities. GCS schools provide strong academic outcomes for their scholars through initiatives including meaningful community involvement. GCS catalyzes community leadership to help revitalize the neighborhood as it operates its schools in that community. Instead of debating whether education impacts the community or vice versa, GCS believes that the most effective method to support student achievement is an integration of education and community (a true \"gestalt\"). The Dean is a school--based administrative position and is a member of the school's leadership team. Deans work closely with the school's principal to implement, model, develop, and improve the overall instructional program. Are school-level leaders who serve as site--based technology support for teachers and scholars. School-level leadership responsibilities include all aspects of monitoring, assessing, and guidance of overall academic and enrichment programs offered by the school. Deans support all facets of the cultural and operational expectations as outlined by Gestalt Community Schools. Deans work closely with teachers to guide the implementation of the school's instruction model, curriculum and instructional support services. As part of the administrative team, deans have other duties and administrative assignments under the direction of the school principal.
