The Teacher: Science is the subject matter expert at EMNRBS responsible for delivering engaging, high-quality, standards-aligned instruction that supports both academic and social-emotional development of students.

This position requires a deep understanding of teaching pedagogy, curriculum development skills, lesson planning, differentiation, collaboration, and organizational skills. It embodies servant leadership that extends beyond standard hours.

Reporting to the Academic Director: STEM, this full-time role collaborates closely with an assigned Counselor: Guidance and works in an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) model with a Teacher: SPED to ensure comprehensive support for students.

The school offers a starting salary of $70,000 (or $75,000 with relevant certification), comprehensive benefits, professional development, and a dynamic work environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Deliver passionate, conceptually deep Science instruction covering Life Sciences, Earth and Space Science, Physics, Chemistry, AP Computer Science Principles, Nutrition, and related subjects.
2. Use data with the Academic Director to improve STEM programs and connect Math and Science learning.
3. Teach 5 sections of Science, with a focus on passing the Science Regents Exam.
4. Maintain communication with families to foster relationships and community engagement.
5. Lead advisory sessions, mentoring students and engaging families.
6. Collaborate to innovate and improve school practices aligned with the mission.
7. Partner with ICT teachers for co-planning, assessment, feedback, and IEP meetings.
8. Participate in regular meetings and professional development.
9. Incorporate NYS CRSE Framework into curriculum and instruction.
10. Engage in school activities such as proctoring exams and parent conferences.

Instructional Evaluations

Performance is assessed via the Marshall Teacher Evaluation Rubric across domains like planning, classroom management, instruction delivery, assessment, family outreach, and professional conduct.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Science (required); Master’s preferred.
• Valid NYS Teaching Certification or in process.
• Experience in urban schools with proven student growth.
• Passion for Sciences and commitment to working with BIPOC teens in the Bronx.
• Experience in curriculum design and differentiation.
