Job summary

Capstone Copper is hiring for an SXEW Technician 1 position at Pinto Valley. You will perform general labor duties, assist with processing operations and gain hands-on skills toward advanced SXEW roles.

This on-site role requires English proficiency, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to operate a forklift. A strong safety mindset and willingness to learn are essential for success in a dynamic mining environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to speak, comprehend, read and write in English for job assignments and safety procedures.
• Willingness to learn the Solvent Extraction process.
• Interest in working in a safety-sensitive environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labor duties in the SXEW Tankhouse and Processing Operations.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and basic upkeep; clean and organize equipment and facilities.
• Operate forklift and manage material handling as required.
• Participate in safety meetings and line-outs; assist with training as needed.

Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix.Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. • We offer a 7-on, 7-off schedule that consists of one week of alternating 12-hour day and nights shifts followed by one week off, offering a great work-life balance with ample time for rest and personal activities.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

As a SXEW Technician 1, you will be working on the Processing Operations SX/EW team to perform general laborer duties while developing the skills required to advance into a SXEW Tech 2/SXEW Tech 3 Operator.

• Demonstrate commitment to safety and Capstone’s Values in Action.
• Perform general labor duties, including but not limited to:
• Vehicle inspections and basic upkeep.
• Cleaning and organizing equipment and facilities.
• Forklift Operations.
• Tool Safety.
• Area Inspections.
• Awareness of Equipment Startup Alarms.
• Confined Space.
• Equipment Safety Devices.
• Load Securement.
• Identification of Electrical Components.
• Identification of Mechanical Components.
• Train employees as needed.
• Actively participate in line-out and safety meetings, contributing to safety discussions and operational efficiency.
• Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.
• Position requires a substantial amount of physical work.
• Work environment is in a SX-EW Tankhouse. Contact with hazardous materials is possible.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required

• Entry-level position - no previous mining work experience is required.
• Ability to safely perform job duties and interest in learning the Solvent Extraction process.
• Ability to speak, comprehend, read and write in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
• May be required to wear a half-face respirator. Will need to be willing to be clean shaven.

Preferred

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Arizona Driver's License.
• Previous experience performing related work in a safety-sensitive environment.
• Previous experience operating a Forklift.
