Job summary

ADUSA Transportation, the transport arm of Ahold Delhaize USA, seeks an on-site switcher to safely move trailers for loading, unloading, and salvage operations at the VA facility. You will follow yard management system directions and ensure timely, accurate handling of product across departments.

Candidates should have a distribution background, possibly a Class A CDL, and a clean driving record. DOT and temperature control duties may apply, with a schedule that fits operational needs.

Qualifications

• CDL may be required at some facilities.
• Be at least 21 years old at certain sites.
• Clean driving record with 3 years or 300,000 miles of experience.
• Meet safety and accuracy work standards.
• Able to work the required schedule.
• Familiarity with distribution environments.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers to appropriate dock doors for loading and unloading.
• Move trailers for unloading salvage product from retail stores.
• Operate as directed by YMS to other locations as applicable.
• Ensure compliance with company safety, accuracy and productivity standards.
• Maintain temperature logs for reefers and run yard audits using handheld devices where applicable.
• Keep running list of trailers moved into doors during shifts.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

As a switcher, it will be your responsibility to safely move trailers as needed for loading or unloading of grocery, perishables, and salvage in a timely and efficient manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Move trailers into appropriate dock doors for loading and unloading of product for various departments
• Move trailers into appropriate dock door for unloading of salvage product returning from retail stores
• Move trailers as directed by YMS to any and all other locations (where applicable)
• Ensure compliance with Delhaize America standards in the areas of accuracy, safety and productivity.
• Ensure compliance with Delhaize America standards in maintaining accurate temperature log for all running reefers on the yard
• Maintain running list of all common carrier trailers moved into doors during shifts
• Complete yard audits within YMS using hand held computers (where applicable)

QUALIFICATIONS

• Some facilities may require a Class A Commercial Driver's License
• Some facilities may require you to be at least 21 years of age
• Some facilities may require a clean driving record with 3 years (or 300,000 miles) experience.
• Must be able to meet expected work standards as established accurately and safely.
• Must be able to work needed schedule to perform assigned duties
• Familiarity/experience in a distribution environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to pass D.O.T. physical and drug screen at facilities where a CDL is a requirement.
• Work in a -5 degree to 90+ degree Fahrenheit environment (temperature varies within each department) for extended periods of time.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Excellent driving skills
• Possess good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to communicate and complete required record keeping functions
• Ability to read and understand written and numeric product identifiers

Salary range is between $18.80-$35.00 Hrly
