Job description

Velosity Brooklyn Park

is searching for a Swiss Machinist Lead to support our manufacturing facility in Brooklyn Park, MN on our weekend day shift. The purpose of the Swiss Machinist Lead is to instruct, train, and coach all hourly personnel in all aspects of the job, including proper techniques, work instructions, production methods, quality assurance, and plant operation. You must use judgment, experience, and technical knowledge to accomplish goals and objectives. You must promote an environment that fosters teamwork, open communication, and a focus on quality and efficiency.

Shift and Compensation

Shift: Friday - Sunday, 5:00am - 5:00pm.

Pay Range: $35.00 - $39.00 per hour in base pay, plus a shift premium and a 5% quarterly bonus target. Actual compensation depends on skills, experience, education, and market conditions.

Essential Duties
  • Work Flow & Quality: Follow dispatch reports, maintain accurate records, and communicate shift-to-shift.
  • Training and Spot Checking: Assist and oversee machinists, ensure production rates, and complete training documentation.
  • Administrative: Coach and mentor staff, manage attendance, and report issues.
  • Technical Skills: Operate Swiss machines, set up jobs, understand G and M code, verify product quality, and perform offsets and tool changes.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Certificate in Machine Trades or equivalent experience.
  • Legal right to work in the US.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience, preferably in medical device manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with computers, shop Math, and blueprint reading.
  • Experience with measuring instruments.
Physical & Mental Demands
  • Standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 30 pounds.

The physical and mental requirements are necessary to perform this role successfully.

Work Environment

Manufacturing floor with standard climate control, exposure to airborne contaminants, noise, and other typical factory conditions.

Protective Clothing

Eye and ear protection, closed-toed shoes, as required in certain areas.
