Job summary

Northwest Children’s Home, Inc. seeks a Youth Mentor to work with a small group of three children on our 22-acre campus in the LC Valley. You join a trauma-informed treatment team helping kids progress toward individualized goals while modeling healthy boundaries and supportive relationships.

Mentors participate in outdoor activities like basketball, hiking, and games, and provide a safe, caring presence during therapy sessions. Evening shifts include Sundays and weekday afternoons.

Qualifications

• Must have at least one year of experience working with children.
• Must be at least 19 years old.
• Valid Driver's License to transport residents in agency vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Work with a group of three children on our campus to support treatment goals.
• Lead outdoor activities and supervise kids during recreation time and therapy sessions.

Job description

What is a Youth Mentor?

A Youth Mentor works with a group of 3 children at a time on our 22 acre campus here in the LC Valley. They walk alongside the children in our care as they receive treatment and work towards goals specific to their needs. All the children in our care have experienced serious trauma. Because of that, they have some intense behavioral issues. They come to us for the therapeutic treatment plans our teams create and implement.

Youth Mentors participate in a variety of outdoor activities with the kids: basketball, volleyball, hiking, fishing, and rollerblading, to name a few! Other activities could include movies, games, drawing and other hobbies the kids enjoy.

Youth Mentors are role models for children and are able to meet them where they are, in their phase of treatment. They build quality relationships and set healthy boundaries using a Trauma Informed Care approach. The Youth Mentors are critical to the successful treatment process for these children.

Shifts:

Swing Shift - Sunday 8am-10pm and Monday- Wednesday 2:30pm-10:30pm

Wage:

$16 per hour + applicable shift differential (up to an additional $3/hr)

Requirements:
