Job summary

VSS International inc. is seeking a Swing Shift Plant Operator I to support manufacturing, loading, and unloading of chemicals, emulsified asphalt, and binder products at our West Sacramento facility.

The role requires a 2pm-10pm shift, basic housekeeping, and safe operation of related equipment. Candidates should have a High School diploma or equivalent and be able to obtain an OSHA forklift license; travel and weekend checks may be required.

Qualifications

• Reads, writes and speaks English fluently.
• Basic math skills using calculator.
• Familiar with hand and power tools.
• Able to learn 5S principles and apply them.
• Self-motivated with minimal direction.
• Team-oriented and able to work safely in a plant.
• Able to work in dirty and adverse conditions.
• Willing to conduct weekend plant checks on a rotating basis.
• Able to observe gauges, dials and machine operation to meet specs.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Able to obtain an OSHA forklift license.

Responsibilities

• Work the 2pm - 10pm shift.
• Perform basic housekeeping and cleanliness tasks.
• Load and unload chemicals, emulsified asphalt, binder trucks and railcars.
• Sweep building interiors.
• Clean and store tools properly.
• Participate in safety meetings and follow EH&S rules.
• Work collaboratively with the team to meet production goals.
• Maintain basic written records.
• Adhere to all environmental, health and safety policies.

Our Night Time Operator is responsible for assisting with the manufacturing, loading, or unloading of chemicals, emulsified asphalt, and binder products.

• The ability to work a 2pm - 10 pm shift
• Basic housekeeping duties (cleaning up litter, spilled products, office, bathroom etc.).
• Loading and unloading of chemicals, emulsified asphalt, binder trucks, tack pots, spreader trucks and railcars.
• Sweeping building interiors.
• Proper tool cleaning and storage.
• Participation with safety meetings.
• Working as a team.
• Basic written recordkeeping; and
• Adherence to all environmental, health and safety rules, policies, and procedures.

Operator ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Loading and unloading of chemicals, emulsified asphalt, binder trucks, tack pots, spreader trucks and railcars.
• Sweeping building interiors.
• Proper tool cleaning and storage.

• Working as a team.
• Basic written recordkeeping; and
• Adherence to all environmental, health and safety rules, policies, and procedures.

Operator QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to read, write and speak fluently in English.
• Ability to utilize a calculator for basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
• Knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
• Ability to learn and put in action 5S principals.
• Ability to self-start, motivate others, work with little direction.
• Ability to work in a dirty and adverse work conditions.
• Ability to conduct the necessary weekend checks of the plant on a rotating basis.
• Ability to Observes gauges, dials, and operation of machinery to ensure conformance to processing specifications.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to acquire a license for Forklift Operation (OSHA); and
• Current state automobile driver’s license and a reliable vehicle, potentially for work-related travel.
