Job summary

VSS International Inc. is seeking a Night Shift Plant Operator I in West Sacramento, CA. This role covers a 12 am – 10 am shift, handling loading/unloading of chemicals and emulsified asphalt, and performing basic housekeeping and tool maintenance.

The ideal candidate will speak fluent English, have basic math and tool knowledge, and be able to work in a team while adhering to safety policies. A forklift license and a valid driver's license are preferred to support plant operations.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and speak fluent English.
• Basic math using a calculator (add/subtract/multiply/divide).
• Knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
• Learn and apply 5S principles on the line.
• Self-starting with ability to motivate others.
• Willingness to work in dirty/adverse conditions.
• Weekend plant checks on a rotating basis.

Responsibilities

• Operate during the 12 am–10 am shift.
• Perform basic housekeeping and clean work areas.
• Load and unload chemicals, emulsified asphalt, and related vehicles.
• Sweep interior areas and tidy equipment.
• Clean and store tools properly after use.
• Attend safety meetings and follow EH&S rules.

Night Shift Plant Operator I

We are in need of a Night Shift Plant Operator I for our VSS International Inc. facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• The ability to work a 12 am - 10 am shift
• Basic housekeeping duties (cleaning up litter, spilled products, office, bathroom etc.)
• Loading and unloading of chemicals, emulsified asphalt, binder trucks, tack pots, spreader trucks and railcars
• Sweeping building interiors
• Proper tool cleaning and storage
• Participation with safety meetings
• Working as a team
• Basic written recordkeeping
• Adherence to all environmental, health and safety rules, policies, and procedures

Qualifications:

• Ability to read, write and speak fluently in English
• Ability to utilize a calculator for basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
• Knowledge of basic hand and power tools
• Ability to learn and put in action 5S principles
• Ability to self-start, motivate others, work with little direction
• Ability to work in a dirty and adverse work conditions
• Ability to conduct the necessary weekend checks of the plant on a rotating basis
• Ability to observe gauges, dials, and operation of machinery to ensure conformance to processing specifications
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to acquire a license for Forklift Operation (OSHA)
• Current state automobile driver’s license and a reliable vehicle, potentially for work-related travel
