Job summary

Bethanyswine is seeking a Swine Technician to care for pigs, manage health, nutrition, and welfare in a production facility. The role includes assisting with farrowing, breeding, vaccination, and daily husbandry tasks.

Candidates must be able to work in a farm environment, follow strict protocols, and communicate with the team. The position requires physical stamina and reliability for weekend/holiday shifts.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• Experience in animal husbandry or swine production is preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols.
• Exposure to loud noises, odors, and varying temperatures.
• Working with live animals in close quarters.

Responsibilities

• Learn and monitor the health and well-being of swine, ensuring proper nutrition and care.
• Follow production protocols to maximize sow and gilt production and efficiencies.
• Administer vaccinations, medications and other health treatments as directed.
• Ensure pigs have access to feed, air and water; monitor intake and adjust feeding.
• Identify and report signs of illness or injury and follow treatment protocols.
• Assist with farrowing and newborn piglet care, including feeding and processing.
• Assist in breeding activities including artificial insemination and pregnancy checks.
• Monitor sows during gestation and farrowing for healthy outcomes.
• Maintain clean and sanitary barns, pens and facilities.
• Operate and maintain swine production equipment.
• Maintain timely records of health, treatments and performance.
• Communicate effectively with employees and farm management.
• Follow animal welfare, biosecurity regulations and company policies.
