Job summary

Sandy Pine Systems in Ainsworth, NE is seeking a Pig Care Technician to support the boar stud in our Gene Transfer Center. You will monitor health, administer vaccinations, collect samples, and keep health and production records.

You will follow biosecurity protocols, operate farm equipment as trained, and perform routine maintenance. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds in varying temperatures.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of swine production experience preferred.
• 1+ years of livestock experience preferred.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, loud noise, odiferous and dusty conditions.
• Ability to work around large animals and handle safety precautions.

Responsibilities

• Monitor health of boars and note behavioral or temperature changes.
• Administer vaccinations and other injections; treat minor injuries or illnesses.
• Collect boar semen and maintain health and production records.
• Adhere to biosecurity standards and farm policies, including showering and changing into farm clothes.
• Operate and maintain equipment; perform routine maintenance and cleaning for sanitation.
