Job summary

Phillips Academy in Andover, MA is seeking an assistant swim coach for the winter season 2026-27. The role works with the head coaches to develop novice through advanced swimmers and supports student-athletes on and off the pool deck.

Responsibilities include leading workouts, helping with meet day operations, and occasional travel with the team. The position requires a Monday–Saturday commitment (approx. 20 hours/week) with an overnight stay for a championship in mid-February.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years coaching experience in swimming club, high school or college setting.
• Swimming experience at high school, college or higher level.
• Ability to positively motivate, inspire and be a role model to high-school students.
• Willingness to manage a Monday-Saturday practice/game schedule including travel.
• Adaptable and able to work alongside current coaching staff.

Salary Range: $5,200.00 To $5,500.00 Annually

Phillips Academy seeks an assistant coach for the swimming program for winter season 2026-27.

Working alongside the head coaches of both boys' and girls' swimming, coaching responsibilities include developing novice through advanced swimmers. The assistant coach will work in partnership with the other swimming coaches to lead workouts and support student-athletes on and off the pool deck. All coaches on staff also contribute to meet day operations.

Commitment is approximately 20 hours per week (Monday- Saturday) starting in mid-November through the first weekend in March. Practices are 100 minutes between the hours of 3:15-6:30 p.m. with competitions on some Wednesday and Saturday afternoons (the latter may involve travel). A championship (mid-February) require overnight stay.

The strongest applicants will have the following qualifications:

• Ability to positively motivate, inspire and be role model to high-school aged students.


• At least 2 years’ experience coaching in swimming club, high school or college setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


• Swimming experience at high school, college or higher level.


• Be adaptable and enjoy working alongside the current coaching staff


• Ability and willingness to manage a Monday-Saturday practice/game schedule which includes travel to away opponents.
