Job summary

Oak Brook Park District is seeking a Swim Lesson Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of our Swim Lesson Program. You will supervise instructors, ensure a safe, welcoming environment, and support community swimmers of all ages.

You will be on deck, monitor lessons, manage attendance, and coordinate with the Aquatic Program Supervisor. This role emphasizes leadership, teamwork, and a commitment to safety and inclusive programming.

Qualifications

• Background in aquatics instruction (5+ years).
• WSI instruction preferred.
• Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR preferred.
• Candidate must have great customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Be on deck, visible to participants, parents, and staff.
• Observe instructors and students while rotating around pool deck/levels.
• Keep attendance records for lessons.
• Direct parents/guardians to appropriate viewing areas.
• Prepare materials for instructors (kickboards, rings, etc.).
• Teach lessons or combine classes when instructors are absent.
• Manage instructor attendance, tardiness, and disciplinary procedures as needed.
• Assist with evaluations of lessons and related office work.
• Lead instructor trainings and provide feedback to swim instructors.
• Monitor pool areas for efficiency and safety, and coordinate messages with supervisors.
• Act as a leadership presence in emergencies and follow safety procedures.
