Pay Range

This range is provided by Butler County Family YMCA. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range: $12.00/hr - $12.00/hr

The Swim Instructor fosters a welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined culture. Responsibilities include leading swimming classes, instructing and motivating students, and promoting water safety. Supports the Y's mission of strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 15
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • YMCA Swim Instructor Certification within 6 months of employment
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification within 6 months of employment
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups
Essential Functions
  • Instruct swimming lessons according to YMCA guidelines with prepared lesson plans
  • Build relationships with students and parents, encourage parent involvement, and refer to other programs as needed
  • Maintain records (attendance, progress reports)
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings
  • Complete incident and accident reports as necessary
  • Maintain pool safety, equipment, and cleanliness
  • Follow YMCA policies on medical, disciplinary, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Working Environment & Physical Demands

Must perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting. Work hours include daytime, evening, and weekends. All positions require background clearances prior to hire, accepted within 2 years: PA Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Certification, FBI Fingerprinting Clearance. Applicants must have a valid email and voicemail for onboarding.
