Job summary

City of Germantown is seeking a Swim Lesson Instructor to conduct lessons under the supervision of the Aquatics Manager, creating a safe, enjoyable learning environment for participants across all ages.

Responsibilities include following curriculum, teaching water safety, coordinating private and group lessons, reporting progress, maintaining equipment, and participating in ongoing training; flexibility for evenings and weekends is required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of lifesaving methods and procedures, including first aid and standard resuscitation.
• Familiarity with swimming pool area policies and procedures.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with fellow instructors, supervisors and participants of all ages.
• Proficiency in various strokes, including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Quick and effective response in emergency situations.
• Physical ability to perform swim lesson instruction.

Responsibilities

• Conduct swim lessons following assigned curriculum plans to ensure proper skill development.
• Instruct participants on water safety and enforce pool area rules.
• Communicate effectively with participants for scheduling private and partner lessons as well as distributing informational materials.
• Provide regular updates to the supervisor on participant progress, including recommendations for Swim Level changes.
• Organize and maintain class equipment, inspect before and after use and report any issues to the supervisor.
• Participate in in-service training sessions as required.
