The City of Springfield is seeking a Swim Instructor to ensure the safety, growth, and enjoyment of participants in a swimming program. You will plan sessions, evaluate progress, and communicate with parents, while demonstrating strokes and enforcing pool rules.
Experience with children and in a pool environment is required, along with YMCA/ARC instructor certification and CPR/First Aid certifications. The role involves working with lifeguards and Aquatics staff in a dynamic aquatic setting.
This position will be responsible for assuring the safety, well-being and enjoyment of all participants in his/her class. In doing so, the instructor is responsible for teaching these five components; personal safety, personal growth, stroke development, water games and sports, and rescue through explanation, demonstration, and correcting individuals so that they learn to the best of their ability. Instructors are responsible for the planning, preparation and safety of his or her class. Swim Instructors should make and keep swimming a fun activity.
