Description

Position Summary:

In accordance with the YMCA's Christian Principles, the Swim Instructor will oversee all aspects of the Swim Instruction program. Responsibilities include providing leadership during classes, ensuring safety rules are followed, and embodying the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Job Requirements:

  • Ensure safety and provide guidance for all participants and parents.
  • Enforce safety rules consistently.
  • Arrive early to prepare for classes.
  • Care for and maintain all equipment used.
  • Return all equipment to its proper place after use.
  • Maintain positive relationships with participants.
  • Provide expertise in swimming instruction.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and training sessions.
  • Support the efficient and safe operation of the YMCA Swim Program.

Compensation Format:

  • Hourly Wage

Child and Teen Supervision Policies:

  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with children and teens.
  • Attend annual abuse risk management training.
  • Follow procedures for supervising high-risk activities involving children and teens.
  • Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Comply with mandated abuse reporting requirements.
Qualifications
  • Hold and maintain current YMCA or American Red Cross certifications in CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working with diverse children and adults.
  • Be mature, dependable, and possess a strong aquatic background.
  • Be at least 15 years old.
  • Exemplify the YMCA character values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
