Job summary

The YMCA of Delaware is seeking a Swim Lesson Instructor to lead beginner to advanced swim sessions at the Bear-Glasgow Family YMCA location in Newark, DE. This part-time role requires teaching swim techniques, evaluating progress, and ensuring water safety for youth and teens.

Responsibilities include monitoring the pool during sessions, maintaining attendance records, and adapting programs to participant needs. Flexible hours include early mornings, evenings and occasional weekends.

Qualifications

• Ability to teach swim techniques, strokes and water safety to participants with varying abilities.
• Assess and evaluate progress of participants and adjust programs accordingly.
• Monitor pool at all times to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Maintain attendance and progress reports of all participants.
• Able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
• Minimum of 15 years of age.
• Ability to swim 25 yards of 4 of the following strokes: front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, butterfly, side stroke, or elementary back stroke.

Responsibilities

• Teach swim techniques, strokes and water safety to participants with varying abilities.
• Assess and adjust progression based on participant progress.
• Monitor pool continuously to ensure safety and prevent incidents.
• Keep accurate attendance and progress records for all participants.
