Job summary

Kettering, City of (OH) is seeking a part-time swim instructor for the Kettering Recreation Complex. In this role you will teach participants of all ages to swim in accordance with American Red Cross guidelines and provide high-quality customer service.

You will instruct all ARC levels and Special Populations programs, maintain a safe, professional pool environment, attend staff trainings, and comply with city policies.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be 15 years of age.
• Swim instructors must be water-enthusiasts who love teaching participants of all ages and abilities to swim according to the American Red Cross program guidelines.
• Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city staff members, volunteers and the general public.
• Current Water Safety Instructor certification is preferred. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Instruct all levels of American Red Cross swimming and Special Populations programs in a consistent manner.

• Promotes good public relations with students and families.

• Attends and participates in all scheduled staff meetings and in-service trainings.
• Maintains and submits all required paperwork for Kettering Recreation Complex classes.
• Responsible for being aware of and enforcing all City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts policies and guidelines.
• Carries out additional duties as assigned.
• Regular and predictable attendance required.
