Job summary

ymcasvcareers is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor to teach swimming skills and water safety across age groups. You will develop tailored lesson plans, provide clear instruction, and maintain a safe, supportive learning environment.

You will monitor progress, give feedback, and collaborate with participants and parents to promote confidence and skill development in the water. Minimum age 15 and required certifications within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 15.
• Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration certifications within 30 days of hire date.
• YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to recognize students who may need assistance.
• Demonstrated ability to recognize and remedy hazardous and dangerous situations.

Responsibilities

• Provides swimming and water safety instruction to students of all ages and abilities.
• Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate, aligned with YMCA values.
• Maintains constant supervision of students and supports learners to ensure a positive environment.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings and follows YMCA policies and procedures.
• Creates a safe learning space and communicates progress to parents and caregivers.
