Job summary

Ymcaokc is seeking a Swim Instructor to teach swimming skills to all ages in a safe, engaging YMCA setting. You will plan lessons, monitor progress, and enforce pool safety standards while promoting water safety awareness and YMCA programs.

Training and a supportive team mindset are emphasized. Requirements include CPR/First Aid, 16+ years old, strong swimming ability, and prior teaching or water-safety experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be certified in PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid.
  • Must be 16 years of age and show technical ability in swim skill instruction.
  • Proficient and demonstration quality swimming skills and safety skills.
  • Previous experience teaching swimming or water safety preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse age groups and skill levels
  • Knowledge of water safety practices and emergency response procedures
  • Reliable, responsible, and punctual with a positive attitude

Responsibilities

  • Conduct swimming lessons for children, teens, and adults of varying skill levels
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with YMCA standards and safety protocols
  • Monitor participants’ progress and provide constructive feedback to improve their skills
  • Enforce safety rules and ensure a safe swimming environment at all times
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool area and equipment

Everyone knows the pool is the coolest place to be in the summer. Join our Aquatics Team to make sure everyone can enjoy the pool in a safe and welcoming environment. Whether you’re a lifeguard, a swim instructor, or a little bit of both, you’re going to love working in aquatics at the Y because you’re helping swimmers feel confident and gain experience in the water.

*Starting at $11.50 per hour

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Join our dedicated team at the YMCA as a Swim Instructor and help individuals of all ages develop essential swimming skills in a safe and supportive environment. We are committed to promoting water safety, confidence, and fitness through engaging and professional instruction.
