Requirements:

• Ability to work with children
• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
• Must pass background examinations (included with training)
• Ability to work a minimum of 2 shifts per week
• Must be able to maintain a consistent schedule

Job Title: Swim Instructor

Reports to: Deck Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary:

Instructs students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on thorough knowledge of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.

Responsibilities:

• Provide swim instruction based on the curriculum.
• Enforce safety rules and regulations; make rescues and administer first aid when necessary.
• Evaluate students’ progress and complete skill tracking promptly.
• Interact with parents/guardians regarding students’ progress.
• Act as a GSS ambassador to ensure parental satisfaction.
• Use problem-solving and creative thinking to resolve student challenges.
• Inspect pool areas for maintenance, cleanliness, or damage issues; report as needed.
• Maintain and store pool equipment properly.
• Report accidents and incidents; complete documentation.
• Perform Deck Teacher duties as needed.
• Attend mandatory workshops and training outside regular hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, or childcare provider preferred.

Certificates in Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid are preferred; training provided.

Work Environment:

Exposure to heat and humidity; moderate noise level.
