Job summary

Speer YMCA in St. Petersburg, FL is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor to lead classes and promote water safety for all ages. The role involves direct instruction, motivation, and engagement in a supportive YMCA environment.

You must be at least 16, available for evenings/weekends, and have or pursue CPR/First Aid certifications; in-house training is available, and a Level 2 background check is required.

Qualifications

• Teach swimming and water safety to students of varying ages.
• Available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED and First Aid are a plus.
• In-house training is available for qualified candidates.
• Pass a drug screen and clear a Level 2 background check (Florida).

Responsibilities

• Teach swimming and water safety skills to students of varying ages and abilities.
• Instruct students in swimming and exercise fundamentals per YMCA standards.
• Ensure proper technique, equipment use, and a safe learning environment.
