Job summary

Schaumburg Park District is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor for the Water Works Indoor Water Park in Schaumburg, IL. You will teach swim lessons across age groups, ensure a safe environment, interact with parents, and help with basic pool maintenance. Position offers 10–15 hours per week with evening and weekend shifts.

Training is provided, including CPR and lifeguard certification opportunities; lifeguard cert is not required to apply. This role opens until filled and pays $18.00 per hour.

ABOUT US

The Schaumburg Park District is an award‑winning public agency that provides its 80,000 residents with a wide variety of recreational facilities, pools, programs, events, parks and open spaces. The Water Works is an indoor water park that is open year‑round. Features include water slides, diving pool, lap pool, water playground, whirlpool and more!

JOB SUMMARY

Swim Instructors will provide swimming instruction to students of various ages and ability levels. The Swim Instructor is responsible for maintaining an enjoyable, safe and effective aquatic environment. Duties include: providing swim lessons and evaluating students’ progress, interacting with parents/guardians on the activities and development of the students’ swim skills, supervising of pool facility and patrons, rule enforcement, and customer service. Responsibilities also include performing of basic maintenance duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

The best applicants will have a friendly, outgoing personality with the ability to demonstrate a safety consciousness. Ideal candidates must understand the limitations of the students and make every effort to accommodate each student’s individual needs. Jeff Ellis Swimming Program & CPR certification training is provided, and you will be paid for your time spent completing the certification training. Lifeguard certification is not required to apply. Lifeguard certification training will be made available, and it is encouraged upon hiring. Regular and reliable attendance is a must.

SCHEDULING & PAY

This is a part‑time, year‑round position with a variable work schedule. Scheduling is flexible, but the typical work schedule is approximately 3-4 shifts per week (about 10-15 hours per week). Available shifts include weekday evenings and weekend mornings. Hiring rate is $18.00 per hour.
