Swim Instructor - NEW Summer Pay Rate - West Boise YMCA

Join us as a Swim Instructor at Treasure Valley Family YMCA and enjoy our new summer pay rate!

Position Details

Location: West Boise YMCA

Pay Range: $13.65/hr (base), with an additional $2.50/hr from May 7th to September 6th

Schedule: Part-time, weekdays and weekends

Role Overview

As a Swim Instructor, you will teach swimming, water safety, and survival skills, inspiring confidence and safety in participants of all levels. You will create a fun, safe, and supportive environment for learning and growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build positive relationships with youth and parents, providing honest feedback and encouragement.
  • Maintain a safe environment by enforcing safety rules, role modeling safe behaviors, and ensuring the deck is clutter-free.
  • Implement and adapt curriculum to meet learners' needs and help them achieve their goals.
  • Engage in meaningful conversations about swimmer progress and retention.
  • Monitor safety and respond promptly to emergencies.
  • Assess skill levels for proper class placement.
Qualifications
  • Must be 16 years or older.
  • Ability to differentiate between colors (red, yellow, blue, green).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, welcoming and inclusive attitude.
  • Ability to respond calmly to emergencies.
Certifications Needed
  • Basic Life Support
  • First Aid
  • Oxygen Certification
  • YMCA Swim Instructor Certification (training available)
