Position Details

Job Title: Swim Instructor

Reports to: Deck Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary

Instruct students on water safety and swimming techniques based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.

Responsibilities:

• Provide swim instruction according to curriculum
• Enforce safety rules, prevent accidents, assist with rescues and first aid
• Evaluate student progress and complete paperwork
• Communicate with parents about student development
• Represent the school positively to ensure parental satisfaction
• Use problem-solving skills to address student challenges
• Inspect and report on pool areas and equipment
• Perform light cleaning duties as needed
• Attend mandatory training sessions
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience as a lifeguard, coach, camp counselor, or childcare provider required. At least two years of swimming instruction experience. Swimming experience is a plus. Certifications in Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid are required; shallow water attendant certification is highly recommended.

Work Environment

Exposed to heat and humidity; moderate noise levels.

Compensation

$13.50 - $16.00 per hour
