Qualifications

Job Overview

The primary purpose of the Swim Instructor / Lifeguard is to supervise the safety and rescue of swimmers at the HCISD Aquatic Center. In addition, the Swim Instructor / Lifeguard prevents, recognizes, and responds to emergencies and provides care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:
Must hold a current certification of the following:

1. First Aid
2. CPR or CPR for the professional
3. Water Safety Instructor or Lifeguard rating from an approved certification program, or relevant swim instructor/lifeguard experience

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of the daily routine of an aquatic center. Comfortable working with children during the swim lesson process.

Experience:
1 year related experience as a swim instructor and/or lifeguard
