Job description

Join to apply for the Swim Instructor - Jefferson County YMCA role at Gateway Region YMCA.

Responsibilities:

1. Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly, and support members and program participants in achieving their goals.
2. Develop and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, members, program participants, and colleagues; help participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA; encourage parent or caregiver involvement.
3. Convey information on aquatics programs and schedules; refer program participants and families to other programs as appropriate.
4. Maintain records such as attendance and progress reports.
5. Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety protocols; complete incident and accident reports as necessary.
6. Organize and store class equipment; report damaged equipment.
7. Train and supervise class aides as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent.
• Ability to demonstrate swim instructor skills according to YMCA standards.
