Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor I in Brookhaven, GA. This role trains and guides swimmers in alignment with YMCA standards and maintains a positive, inclusive environment for participants and families.

You will conduct lessons, monitor safety, and help participants achieve their goals while following all YMCA policies and procedures. A background in aquatics and relevant certifications are required.

Qualifications

• At least 16 years of age and able to demonstrate YMCA swim instructor skills.
• YMCA Swim Instructor certification, or equivalent, is required.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen certifications are required.
• Intro to the Y’s Cause and Culture, Living our Cause & I Hear you. Service with Care e-learning within first 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Instructs swimming lessons following YMCA guidelines and prepared lesson plans; helps participants achieve goals.
• Develops and maintains positive relationships with members, volunteers, and colleagues; engages families with the YMCA.
• Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules; refers participants to other programs when appropriate.
• Maintains attendance and progress records as required.
• Follows YMCA policies, safety procedures, and completes incident/accident reports as necessary.
• Organizes and stores class equipment; reports damaged equipment.
• Trains and supervises class aides as assigned.
• Performs other YMCA duties as assigned.
