Job summary

City of Newport, Oregon is seeking a Swim Instructor for the Newport Recreation Center. This part-time role leads aquatic classes for youth and adults, following city-approved curricula and safety protocols.

You’ll plan engaging lessons, track progress, coordinate with staff, and deliver great customer service in a busy pool setting. CPR/First Aid and a valid Oregon driver’s license are required within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of water safety and swim instruction.
• CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organize swimming, water safety, and aquatic exercise classes.
• Teach skills using a facility-approved curriculum.
• Evaluate swimming abilities and track progress.
• Communicate with patrons and parents about goals, achievements, and areas for improvement.
• Coordinate equipment and collaborate with staff to ensure smooth program delivery.
• Maintain accurate records and provide constructive feedback.
