Job summary

YMCA of Columbia Willamette is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor to plan and teach swim lessons, using our curriculum and safety guidelines. You will provide constructive feedback, communicate with families, and document progress while upholding YMCA standards.

Applicants must be 16+, able to commit to a 4-week session, and hold CPR/AED & First Aid certification (or obtain within 30 days). Enjoy flexible hours and opportunities to grow within our aquatics program.

Qualifications

• Be at least 16 years old.
• Commit to an entire session (4 weeks) of swim lessons.
• Possess (or obtain within 30 days) CPR/AED & First Aid certification.
• Strong understanding of swim stroke techniques.
• Able to pass a written/physical assessment and respond quickly in emergencies.
• Observe participants, enforce safety rules, and follow YMCA policies.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach swim lessons using the YMCA curriculum.
• Identify and correct strokes with positive feedback.
• Communicate with students and parents in a friendly, patient manner.
• Track and log participant skill progression.
• Maintain current skills through Inservice Training.
• Be a positive youth role model and uphold YMCA standards.
