Responsibilities

1. Instruct swimming lessons according to YMCA guidelines, with prepared lesson plans, supporting members and participants in achieving their goals.
2. Develop and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, members, participants, and colleagues; facilitate connections among participants and families; encourage parental or caregiver involvement.
3. Convey information about aquatics programs and schedules; refer participants and families to other programs as appropriate.
4. Maintain records such as attendance and progress reports.
5. Follow YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and safety procedures; complete incident and accident reports as needed.
6. Organize and store class equipment; report damaged equipment.
7. Train and supervise class aides as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent.
• Ability to demonstrate swim instructor skills in line with YMCA standards.
