Job Details:

• Position: Swim Instructor
• Reports to: Deck Supervisor
• FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Instruct students on water safety and swim techniques based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide swim instruction according to the curriculum.
• Enforce safety rules, prevent accidents, perform rescues, and administer first aid when necessary.
• Evaluate student progress and complete required paperwork promptly.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about students’ development.
• Act as a GSS ambassador to ensure parental satisfaction.
• Use problem-solving and creative thinking to address student challenges.
• Inspect pool areas for maintenance, cleanliness, or damage issues, and report as needed.
• Maintain proper storage of pool equipment and manage lane lines.
• Report accidents/incidents and complete documentation.
• Perform Deck Teacher duties as needed.
• Occasionally perform light cleaning tasks.
• Attend mandatory workshops and training outside regular hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, or childcare provider required. At least two years of swimming instruction experience required. Swimming experience is a plus.

Certificates and Licenses: Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications required. Shallow water attendant certification highly recommended.

Work Environment: Regular exposure to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.
