Support the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Teach swim lessons in accordance with YMCA policies and Y-USA instructor training. Build relationships with swim lesson participants across beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
Essential Functions
- Plan and teach swim instruction tailored to participants' abilities and swimming levels.
- Maintain equipment inventory by selecting, storing, and issuing swim lesson equipment.
- Evaluate participants' abilities and needs, providing alternative activities to ensure an enjoyable experience.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations for the aquatic facility and equipment.
- Monitor progress and communicate feedback to participants and families.
- Track attendance and manage group lessons of up to ten participants.
- Follow all safety, emergency, and child abuse prevention policies, responding appropriately in emergencies.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions to maintain and enhance skills.
Qualifications
- Minimum age of 15 years.
- YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification preferred.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Complete YMCA required training upon hire.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with individuals from various backgrounds.
Starting Pay: $17.16/hr
