Job description

Our swimmers are diving into great lessons and our employees are diving into great opportunities! We’re now hiring year-round, part-time instructors (no seasonal positions available) with leadership opportunities available within your first 3-6 months. Yes, you can grow with Goldfish even if this is your after school or second job to help your future career!

A day in the life as a swim instructor:

You will be responsible for the success of swim lessons by reviewing your class schedule and preparing your class materials and lesson themes. You’ll teach 4 swimmers per class by going through our well-established and proven curriculum of water safety, swim and swimplay skills (6 swimmers in our infant, parent-and-me style lessons). After each 30-minute lesson, you communicate progress (and celebrate the accomplishments!) with parents and caregivers.

Requirements:

1. Ability to swim; you must pass a basic swim test (50 yards) to complete your training & certifications
2. Must be able to commit to missing no more than one class every 6 weeks (80-90% attendance) for each day you work
3. You will find and prepare your own substitute teacher when you aren’t able to teach yourself, leaving notes so that your substitute can be as fin-tastic as you are
4. Ability to be in the water for 4 hours at a time; this is an in-water position in a chlorinated pool and can be difficult for individuals with sensitive skin without proper pre and post shift care

Schedule:

This position is a great opportunity for those ages 16 and up and others who are interested in an exciting, part-time position. Your schedule will be created based on your availability and our set lesson times from:

1. 9:00-1:00 and 4:00-8:00 Monday through Friday
2. 9:00-3:00 on Saturday and Sunday

You’ll be scheduled for the same days each week (Ex. every Monday from 4:00-8:00) and arrive 15 minutes before lessons start to participate in the pre-shift meeting.

We won’t ask you to stay late at night - When lessons end, we go home!

*We do not offer half-shifts or mid-shifts, you must be available for the above-mentioned lesson times.
